Fishing rules
Here you will find the current fishing rules for the different areas in Trysil.
Catch and Release is not common in Norway. But the Call of The Wild crew urges everyone that visits Trysil to practice Catch and Release!!
All rules are subject to change, so make sure you check for changes before you start fishing.
Area A:
Trysil Fellesforening for jakt og fiske
Fishing permit:
Everyone 16 years or older must have a fishing permit before starting to fish.
Fishing season:
Fishing with a fishing pole is permitted year-round in all lakes and ponds, as well as in the Trysil River and the Engera. It is prohibited to fish in all other rivers and streams from the 15th of September through the 31st of October.
Fly fishing for grayling is permitted in the period from the 15th of September through the 31st of October in the following sections of Ljøra: Between Løvmo and Lang-Halvorsva and from Faksen to the Swedish border.
Smallest size catch:
All trout smaller than 30 cm and all grayling smaller than 35 cm caught in the Trysil River and the Engera must be released immediately.
In Ljøra, all trout smaller than 25 cm and grayling smaller than 30 cm must be released.
In Flera, all trout and grayling smaller thab 20 cm must be released.
Children under 16 years are exempt from rules on smallest catch sizes.
Fishing from boat:
Fishing from boat is permitted in all lakes and ponds with the exceptions of Banantjern, Bredflotjern, Store Brunntjern, Eksgrastjern, Fisktjern, Lilleåstjern, Skjefttjern, Storørret-tjern, Svartåstjernene and Trefjerdingstjern.
Belly boat is legal on all waters.
Area E:
Gjerfloen fluefiske
Fly fishing with barbless hooks only.
Bag limit of one fish of maximum 38 cm per day.
Maximum 20 anglers per day.
